- He's not entirely certain that she wouldn't sell him to Shinra for one corn chip, but he can't help liking her anyway. She's tough, she's blunt, and she takes no shit; all things he can respect. In addition, there's a fair amount of common ground: they both hail from post-apocalyptic wastelands; they both have occasionally dark, often sarcastic senses of humor; and they're both cynical and pragmatic with a survivalist streak that allows room for moral gray areas. She's obviously got some baggage, and he opened up about some of his own. Navigating the warden/inmate contrast is tricky, though. He doesn't think they're that different, but she sure seems to, and he can't really argue with her when they've been placed on different sides of that divide.
Crais
Inmate |
- Fellow ex-military guy with a cynicism streak a mile wide. Easy to talk to. Seems like he needs an ally, and Cloud's willing to be one.
Tiffany
Warden |
- Honest, informative. Understands nuance. Gives good advice. Former inmate, so Cloud values her perspective re: warden and inmate interactions a lot. He really likes her. Definitely a person he will continue to seek out and check up on.
Jedao
Inmate |
- Intriguing. Confusing. Cloud gets the sense there is a lot more going on here than meets the eye. Jedao pushed him a little in their first meeting, but he responded to Cloud pushing back with blunt, self-revealing honesty, and that smoothed things over. Cloud is super uncomfortable with the whole psychiatry thing and would rather never talk about that ever again, yet Jedao seemed to pick up on that, played it off with a joke, and actually made Cloud laugh as a result. Then he started flirting. Cloud doesn't know what to think.
Rita
Warden |
- It didn't take long for Cloud to start getting both Barret and Aerith vibes off of her, only somehow instead of being terrifying it's just really charming. She's smart, kind, and easy to talk to--and she's willing to fill the gaps in conversation caused by Cloud being Cloud. She seems idealistic and somewhat sensitive, and Cloud is wary of the potential for someone like that to get hurt, especially in a place like this. He'll be quick to make himself available if she ever needs any help.
Hange
Warden |
- Smells like military but doesn't much act it. Confusing. Makes him nervous. Unafraid to say what she thinks, though, and he likes that; also not insistent that others conform to it, also a plus. Their first thread is still ongoing so we'll see where he ends up here.
Xigbar
Inmate |
- Shady. Dodges questions. Wears a black cloak. Curious, but inclined to avoid.
Aloy
Warden |
- Fellow newbie. Weird girl from a weird world. Tech fascination. Cloud's likely to tell her if he discovers anything cool on board.
Misty
Warden |
- Reads as open-minded and kind, works in the greenhouse. The combination reminded him of Aerith, which put him at ease more quickly than normal.
Arthur Morgan
Warden |
- Tess's warden. Probably would remind Cloud of Chocobo Sam if he bothered to think about it: blunt, shrewd, has a sense of humor. Seems like they could get along.
Nadja
Warden |
- Vampire, hundreds of years old, not shy about telling you how much better that makes her. Still, actually gave okay advice. Cloud has filed her under "eccentric but manageable" for now.
Tris
Warden |
- She's been here for four years and has had the same inmate for 3.5 of them, which Cloud finds both admirable and difficult to imagine. Seems compassionate and steady; calming to be around. Answered his questions with frankness and insight.
